John Baker

John Howard Baker, 65, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, in a local hospital.  

 

He was a 1975 graduate of Kirkman Technical School. John was a truck driver for Estes Express Lines and retired as a radio DJ after many years of service.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lizzie Baker; father, Jimmy Davis; sisters, Fannie Cooper Arnold, Jessie Mae Baker Crook, niece, Barbara Jean Davis; brothers, William Franklin Baker and Willie James Baker; granddaughter, Jasmine Necole Hines.

 

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Johnnie Mae Baker; daughters, Melissa Miller of Atlanta, GA, LaKisha Baker of Chattanooga, Nicole Baker of Los Angeles, CA, and Rochelle (Donnie) Parker of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Robert Baker of Chattanooga and Leland Baker of Marietta, GA; sisters, Tecelia Keaton of Chattanooga and Ruthie Davis Richburgh of Detroit, MI; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

 

John will lie in state on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
