We share with our friends, neighbors and family, the passing of Phillip Raymond Holmes, “Uncle Bud”. Peacefully he left his earthly home on January 14, 2022.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel B. Holmes, his mother, Agnes G. Holmes and his siblings, John Holmes, Jim Holmes, Charles Holmes, Pete Holmes, Claude Holmes, Ruth Miller, Shirley Cooke, Dink Garren, Louise Staton.

 

He is survived by Don Staton, Allen Dixon, Steve and Shelia Garren, Sam Cooke, Ken and Diane Croft, Sharon Stewart, Sharon Lombardo, Paula Holmes, Red Holmes, Allen Holmes, Chase Staton, Carmen Harvey, Kevin Croft, Adam Croft, Zach and Tamara Croft, Michelle Staton, Vikki Holmes, Bucky Holmes, Stephanie Holmes,  and Jennifer Holmes, and a host of nieces and nephews and their children.

 

Raymond was an active member of the Daisy Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and was known for his mission work, delivering gifts, of fresh fruits and vegetables, throughout the community. His church family was dear to his heart.  

 

His service to his country included dual branches Army and Marines. Ray was in the 1st Marine division during the Korean War, Chosen Reservoir. After the war, he made his home in Soddy Daisy and started his career with TDOT, as a surveyor. He later retired from TDOT, with numerous colleagues and friends, of whom he thought highly. He loved each and everyone of us, and was gracious with his time and gifts.

 

His extended family include his best friend, in the world, Rick Pollard, and caregivers, Tony and Bobbie Davis, Ruth Monahan, Chris Monahan, Celeste Terrel, Janie Cook, Robin, and Mary Willingham.

Services will be on Monday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Poe Cemetery in Daisy with those serving as pallbearers, Don Staton, Rick Pollard, Ken Croft, Sam Cooke, Chase Staton, and Steve Garren.

 

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
