Herschel Hand
Herschel Larry Hand, 73, of Selma, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Herschel Hand and Ester Lee Hand.
He was a dear husband, father, and brother of Pam Conway, Eli Hand, Josh Hand, Jeremy Hand, Jacqulyn Conway, John Conway Jr., Jordane Conway, and Charlotte and Dick Wambsganss, and grandparent to Ethan Broom, Ryder Hullender, Nora Hand, and Piper Rawlston. He also had many nieces and nephews.
Larry was an Air Force veteran and a graduate of Samford University. He was a devoted husband, father, and provider who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was an avid Alabama fan, who was a wise old soul with wisdom and advice to all those who sought it. He was always quick to make a joke or lighten any mood, but could quickly turn to lend an ear and advice. Larry had a storied career working his way through the ranks of several insurance agencies and was fortunate to live in many different cities and states. Someone once said his life was not of chapters, but comprised of books each one more rich than the last. He is loved and will be missed by all those who were fortunate to know him.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace.
