Dallas Ballard
Dallas Ray Ballard, 88, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born on April 29, 1933, in Rhea County, the son of the late Dyke and Thelma (Wilkey) Ballard. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Caraway) Ballard; his brother, Wallace “John” Ballard; and his sister, Pat Francisco.
Ray lived in Dayton all of his life and was a long-time carpenter and builder of residential homes. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany and was a member of the American Legion Post 100 and the VFW Post 4708. He was a member of Summer City Church of God.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Debbie) Ballard of Dayton; his two daughters, Theresa (Tommy) Snyder of Dayton and Cindi Smith of FL; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his three brothers, Bruce (Lounell) Ballard, Larry (Evelyn) Ballard, and Tommy (Kathy) Ballard, all of Dayton; and his two sisters, Linda (Bobby) Parker of Knoxville and Charlotte Dotson of Dayton.
Funeral services for Ray will be held on Monday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Freddie Marler officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Evelyn with his grandsons as pallbearers in Rhea Memory Gardens with military honors.
Social distancing is encouraged and masks are requested by the family.
