Dorothy Marie “Dot” Glover, 92, of Collegedale, Tennessee, passed away Thursday evening, January 20, 2022 at a local nursing facility.

Dot was born on June 11, 1929, in Chickamauga, Ga. She was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia and Chattanooga area.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jamie Lamar “Pete” Glover. parents, Homer “Sr.” and Maggie Howard Weathers, brothers, Homer “Jr.” Weathers and Henry Weathers and sisters, Vera “Crickett” Weathers and Doris Weathers Baskette.

She is survived by two children, daughter, Cynthia E. “Cindy” Coker of Oxford, Fl., and son, Eric Lamar “Bunt” Glover of Fort Oglethorpe; four grandchildren, granddaughter, Michelle (Michael) Drew of Harrison, grandsons, Eric (Karla) Glover of Dry Creek, La., Jamie Glover of Chickamauga, and Anthony Coker of Ringgold, two great-grandchildren, great-granddaughter, Hannah Nicole (Isaiah) Kaley of Georgetown, Tn., and great-grandson, Matthew Glover of Dry Creek, La., and several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifetime homemaker and professional “antiquer.” She had a great eye for finding old and unusual pieces to refinish and resell. She loved nothing more than spending time going to yard sales, thrift shops and auctions. Not to mention all the trash finds that she transformed into beautiful treasures. She was definitely a bargain hunter with exceptional bartering skills. This was most definitely her passion. People would come from all around to buy antiques and things from her.

Dot was also an avid flower gardener and bird lover. She spent countless hours working on her gorgeous backyard gardens that included water fountains, birdhouses and feeders, multitudes of beautiful flowers, bushes, and trees all landscaped with hundreds of hand picked river rock. Some of her favorites were roses, zinnias, and lilies. Her favorite birds were Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Hummingbirds.

Some of Dot’s other hobbies included playing cards, her favorite card game was Rook. She loved cooking and was known for her “cathead” biscuits and her turkey and dressing. Dot loved spending time with her pug dogs, and she also loved listening to music. Some of her favorites were Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Fats Domino, and Charlie Rich.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of her caregivers at Life Care Center of Collegedale and Hearth Hospice.

The family would like to request, in lieu of flowers, that donations in her memory be made to Hearth Hospice.

A private interment will be held in the Masonic Garden of Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
