School Bus Driver For Hamilton County And Retired From Walmart Transportation

John Ballard Simpson, 75, of Ooltewah, formerly of Hixson, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Mr. Simpson loved his Savior, his family and friends.

 

He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Alfred D. and Laura Simpson. His sister, Annie Fender, preceded him in death. Mr. Simpson was a loving and caring person, who even in death continues to give as an organ donor. 

 

He was a 1965 graduate of Ooltewah High School.

 

He was an active member of Hixson First Baptist Church for 47 years and after his health started to decline, he and his wife moved to Ooltewah, where they joined Silverdale Baptist Church. He was an owner operator school bus driver for Hamilton County. He retired from Walmart Transportation as a driver.

 

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marie Simpson, daughter, Donna (Greg) Steele, grandchildren, Natalie Steele and Cole Steele, granddog, Maggie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Shannon and Reverend Greg Steele officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The Ooltewah Class of 1965 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday.
