Jane Marie Ringer Thornburg
Jane Marie Ringer Thornburg, 87, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 24, 2022.
Mrs. Thornburg was a native of Birmingham, Al., and moved to the Chattanooga area when she was eight years old and lived in the Rossville/Fort Oglethorpe area since 1952.
Mrs. Thornburg was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and a prayer warrior throughout her life. In 1960 she became an active member of the South Rossville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 54 years, sang in the church choir, was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and known for her card ministry. She was retired from K-Mart in Fort Oglethorpe with 25 years of service. Mrs. Thornburg also volunteered with Boynton Commodities, sang with the Sweet Adeline’s, enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Henry L. “Ham” Thornburg; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Ringer; sister, Juanita Corder; niece, Sandra Milling.
Survivors are her two sons, David (Linda) Thornburg and Eddie (Vickie) Thornburg; grandchildren, Tracy (Brian) Hendrix, Eric (Sara) Thornburg and Matthew (Sydnee) Thornburg; Sister, Frances Noll; great-grandchildren, Anna, Oliver, Hudson, Madeline, Abigail and Hadley and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastors Joe Callahan & Jim Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
