Shaphan R. Word
Shaphan Rodriquez Word, 39, was born on October 18, 1982, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to Beverley Edmonds and Leon Williams. Shaphan transitioned into glory on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
He was a beloved resident of Flintstone, Ga., and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Shaphan was educated at Ridgeland High School. He was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church.
Shaphan was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Mattie Ferrell; grandmothers, Mary A. Williams, of Lafayette, and Ade Mae King, of Athens; aunts, Deborah Mack, and Audrey May Conner, of Cleveland, Tn., and Diana Sims, of Chattanooga; uncles, Christopher King, Todd King, Tracy King, and Chad King, all of Cleveland.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Beverley Edmonds, of Chattanooga; father, Leon Williams, of Lafayette; sisters, Deborah King, and Kinnetthia Word, of Chattanooga; brothers, Tony (Nicole) King, and Christopher Watt, of Chattanooga, Joshua Williams, and Justice Williams, of Lafayette; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home.
A 1:30 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 8, in the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memory Gardens, 3658 North Highway 27, Lafayette, Ga.
