Longtime Carpenter Was Passionate About Softball, Serving As Coach And Umpire

Lee Tullis, 81, of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. 

Lee was born in Chattanooga, to the late Mr. Henry Erskine Tullis and Mrs. Bethel Shelton Tullis on September 6, 1941.

Lee was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenter’s Local 74 for over 50 years. He built both Bayside Baptist Church and Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. He was passionate about softball serving as coach, umpire and umpire Chief and was inducted into the A.S.A Hall of Fame in 2017.  Lee loved Alabama, “Roll Tide”, Braves Baseball, and gardening. Most of all, he loved being Papaw to his only granddaughter, Miranda.  Lee will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Lively Tullis, parents, and brother, Kyle Tullis.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Tullis-Hartman, son, Michael (Julie) Tullis and granddaughter, Miranda Tullis and sister, Gayle Robinson.  Several nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Lee’s memory.

A celebration of Lee’s life will be conducted in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel on Monday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ted Gocke officiating.

The family will receive friends at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel on Sunday, Oct. 9, from 1-6 p.m., and on Monday, Oct. 10, from noon until the service hour.

Interment will follow the service at Lakewood East Memory Gardens.
