The Chattanooga Music Census, a partner-led initiative to "gain a better understanding of the current needs of the Chattanooga-area music community," has officially closed.
The goal of the Census was to capture information about the local music economy through 1,000 surveys answered by community members. Due to the dedication and collaboration of the Chattanooga Music Census partners, that goal was exceeded, with 1,407 surveys answered, officials said.
The Census launched to the public on Friday, Oct. 7 and stayed open for five weeks before closing on Friday, Nov. 11.
The Census is led by the Chattanooga Tourism Co., ArtsBuild, the City of Chattanooga and over 40 local partners, through a grant from the Lyndhurst Foundation.
Chattanooga Music Census announces their next steps:
• In the following months, Sound Music Cities, a leading provider of music ecosystem studies and music census work, will compile and analyze all data gathered through the survey.
• In early 2023, analyzed data and findings will be unveiled to all community partners.
• Focus groups will be created to encourage community engagement and provide input opportunities as data-driven decisions are made to support Chattanooga’s music ecosystem.
More details will be shared at ChattanoogaMusicCensus.org as they become available.
