UTC Partners With 11 Local Logistics Companies For 3PL Freight Broker Professional Program

  • Tuesday, November 29, 2022

The UTC Center for Professional Education is partnering with 11 local logistics companies to offer employment pipelines for eligible UTC Freight Broker Professional Program students.

The program aims to help individuals launch their freight broker careers with 80 hours of logistics, communication and sales training over the course of 13 weeks. Eligible students may access tuition reimbursement, sign-on bonuses and job opportunities post-course through employer partners Avenger Logistics, Axle Logistics, BlueGrace Logistics, FitzMark, LYNC Logistics, MaxTrans Logistics, Shah Logistics, Steam Logistics, Taimen Transport, Trident Transport and U.S. Xpress.

UTC will host an Open House from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, for individuals interested in learning more about the program and meeting the employer partners. Event and registration information can be found here.

“I am confident that the program will have a positive impact on students and the local transportation business,” said U.S. Xpress Director of Key Accounts Andy Porter. “When graduates can launch their careers with a greater understanding of the industry and minimize their learning curve, everyone wins.”

Freight brokers, commonly referred to as third-party logistics (3PL) providers, serve as a bridge between shippers with freight to move and carriers available to haul the freight.

“The logistics industry is booming in Chattanooga,” said CPE Director John Freeze. “We created this program to help employers create qualified talent pools as well as help individuals gain the skills they need to have a competitive advantage in the industry.

“We aspire to help individuals not just have jobs but to build lifelong freight broker careers with growth opportunities.”

The course will be offered in the evenings in spring 2023 so individuals working full-time jobs or in degree programs can still participate while working toward their new career goals. No application to the University is required.
