Johnny Davis Cheek, 77, lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away November 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 19, 1944, in Athens, to the late J.D. Cheek and Lois Cheek. Johnny was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Cohutta, and was an avid gardner, Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching Gunsmoke.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his previous wife of 22 years, Marcella Cheek, and brother, Wayne Cheek.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Cheek; son, Jeremy Cheek, of Cleveland; daughters, Lisa (Duane) Hamby, of Cleveland, and Gwen (Bruce) Compton, of Pikeville; siblings, Robert (Barbara) Cheek, Margaret Sue (Ronnie) Shoemaker, Ricky (Kim) Cheek, Hazel (Jimmy) Colachicco and Danny Cheek; sister-in-law, Darlene Cheek; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 at East Cleveland Baptist Church, followed by the service at 3 p.m. Preacher Clay Sutton, Preacher Bruce Compton and Preacher Duane Hamby will all officiate the service.
Burial will be held at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland following the service.
