1889 Plat Maps Made Available Online

  • Saturday, December 31, 2022

ChattanoogaHistory.com has added another set of historical property maps to its website. The maps, which were digitized and published by Sam Hall, were originally part of a volume owned by J. A. Fairleigh, Raymond & Edward Betts, civil engineers who were involved in several county and city projects, including the construction of the Walnut Street Bridge and the creation of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Park.

The latest volume was loaned to Mr. Hall courtesy of Picnooga / Chattanooga Historical Society.

The release of these maps is part of the website's ongoing effort to make local historical photos and documents available and interactive online, and it has become the largest repository of accessible Chattanooga history since it was launched in 2014.
