Dorothy “Dot” Katherine Chalk, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, in the Hospice Care Center.

She attended Riverside High School. Dorothy was formerly employed as a teacher at First Cumberland Child Care Center. She was a member of Faith Unlimited.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Johnson and Francis Johnson; five brothers; and eldest son, Larry Starling, Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Eddie Harris and Corey Harris; daughter, Katherine (Walter) Lindsey, all of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren, Ladarius Blunt, Larry Starling, Larrysha Starling, Kianna Lindsey, Cam’ron Harris, Genesis Harris, Starlynn Harris, Walter Lindsey, III, Kasidee Harris, and Aleyah Harris; 6 great-grandchildren, Laila Starling, Lyrik Starling, Correll Staerling-Powell, Jer’kyla Lawson, Zy’lani McClendon, and Donte Blunt; brothers, Claude (Willie Mae) Johnson of Acworth, GA and James (Doris) Johnson of Kennesaw, GA; sisters, Brenda Johnson, Renita Johnson, Betty Morgan, Sandra Gordon, all of Chattanooga, Liza Mitchell of Acworth, GA, and Francis Barnes of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Dorothy will lie in state on Friday, April 8, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 9, at noon in the chapel with Pastor Randy Petersen as the eulogist.

Burial will be on Monday, April 11, at 11:30 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery.
