The Silverdale Lady Seahawks took another step on the road to the Spring Fling on Friday as they defeated Evangelical Christian, 10-0, in the first round of the DII-A state tournament. Although they were the No. 2 seed out of the East, they had to travel to Columbia Academy to play the Lady Eagles out of Cordova, Tenn.
Silverdale quickly turned the away diamond into their own as they tallied 10 runs in the first three innings to run rule ECS. Addie Keef, Gabbie Hensley, Bentlee Stiner, NcCade Cooper, Katie Willoughby and Delaney Phillips all turned in two hit performances at the plate, while Willoughby was the stalwart in the circle. The talented senior fanned nine in five innings, allowing only two hits.
Cooper had two doubles with three RBIs, while Stiner had a double and triple with three RBIs, as well.
Silverdale will travel back to Columbia Academy on May 17th to face the Lady Bulldogs in a quarterfinal game.
