The McCallie track team dominated the Division II-AA East Region meet, winning 12 of the 18 events last week at Chattanooga Christian. The Blue Tornado outdistanced second-place CCS 188-63 in the team standings.
Sophomore Kavan Reynolds led the squad with three Region titles.
Kavan won the triple jump with a leap of 42-3, the 400-meter dash in 49.87, and the 200-meter run in 22.4.
Sophomores Marcellus Barnes Jr. and Caughran Fowler were double Region winners. Barnes raced to a first-place time of 10.91 in the 100 meters and ran the anchor leg of the winning 4 x 200 relay team. Fowler was also part of the 4 x 200 crew and ran the third leg of the winning 4 x 400 relay team.
Other Region champions for McCallie included Carson Gentle (shot put), Aaron Crowder (discus), Kollin Claridy (long jump), Joseph Eldridge (pole vault), Crew Megahee (110 hurdles), and Kendrick Reynolds (300 intermediate hurdles).
Placing second were Jay Williams (discus), Claridy (high jump), the 4 x 800 relay team, Hugh Carlson (1600 meters), the 4 x 100 relay team, Sam Baker (800), Barnes Jr. (200), and Jack Bowen (3200).
Megahee and Fowler will compete this week at the TSSAA DII-AA state decathlon meet at Brentwood Academy. The TSSAA DII-AA state championship meet is May 25 at Middle Tennessee State University.
