Melissa Faye Hicks, 57, of Cleveland, passed away on May 15, 2022. She was born on Feb. 9, 1965 to the late Henry and Wilma Hawkins. Melissa was a lifelong resident of this area and she was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Melissa worked as an office manager in the medical field for 28 years. She was friendly and easy-going and could get along with anyone. Above all, Melissa loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Charles Hicks.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 39 years, Danny Hicks; daughters, Alisha Hicks and Ashley Beck (Lynn); grandchildren, Clay Beck, Levi Beck, Josee Beck, Khloe Johnson and Raye McDaniel; siblings, Myron Hawkins (Donna) and Melanie McClure; sisters-in-law, Rita Cox (David) and Connie Dills (Willie); mother-in-law, Bernice Hicks; and nieces and nephew, Buffy Dills, Whitney Cox (Vickie), Audrey Trentham, Matthew Hawkins (Courtney) and Katherine Peacock (Josh). In addition to these, she leaves behind numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family and friends, as well as a very special lifelong childhood friend, Diane Tatum.
Melissa’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Union Missionary Baptist Church on Hughes Lake Road. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at the church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
