Vivian Postell
Vivian Postell, age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 20, 2022, at The Oaks of Dalton.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Arvil Postell; her parents, Russell and Ethel Smith; brothers, Terry Smith, Hershel Smith and James “Eddie” Smith; and sisters, Vinnie Carter and Dorothy Vaughn.
In 1960, she married the love of her life and enjoyed over 62 years of loving her family. She was a precious mother and the #1 Mee-maw who made every special day even more special. She was employed at Shaw Industries for almost 30 years.
She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and loved the Potter’s Clay Sunday School Class. Vivian was famous for her homemade chicken and dumplings and loved hosting family and friends for Sunday lunch.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tammy Postell of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Terry Mantooth; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Betty Smith; grandchildren, Kandace (Garrett) Hagan, Kyle Postell and Kenli Babb (fiancée); great grandson, Rhett Jackson Hagan; nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23, at 1 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Postell officiating and Grandson Kyle Postell delivering the eulogy.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church Pavilion Fund.
