Ethel Reed
Ethel Virginia Reed, 90, of Decatur, Tn., passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her home on May 21st, 2022.
Ethel was a devoted wife and homemaker who embraced her Native American heritage and loved to dance and clog at festivals, tend to her multitude of indoor and outdoor plants, and was a fan of bluegrass music. She adored spending time with her family and enjoyed helping her husband tend to their farm. She loved camping and would often beat her grandchildren in rounds of dominoes and checkers. You could count on Ethel to cook delicious southern food from scratch and invite the family over to enjoy it.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Cecil Harris, her parents, John Franklin Fairbanks and Cindy Lou ‘Lula’ McKeehan, sisters, Callie Lee Fairbanks Lamb, infant, Mary Katherine Fairbanks, Marie Goforth McDonald, Aileen Etta Fairbanks Hall, brothers, Carson Fairbanks, Bonnie Finley Fairbanks, Kenneth ‘Blue’ Howard, Erdie Franklin Fairbanks, and Sam ‘Junior’ Jackson B. Fairbanks.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 12 years, Bob Reed, sons, James Harris, John (Bernice) Melton, and William Robert Reed, daughters Virginia (Steve) Ellison and Lisa Jean Reed, grandchildren, Eric (Amber) Harris, Brenna Miller, Kayla Girod, Shy (Jake) Pritchett, Davey (Chelesey) Richesin, Jamie Reed, Justin Grover, and Kyle Grover, great-grandchildren, Ezra Harris, Brody Girod, Harrison Pritchett, Kolson Pritchett, Ariel Richesin, and many other nieces, nephews, special friends, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, in the chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., prior to the service.
Interment will be held on Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
