Chattanooga State Community College and Hamilton County Schools celebrated graduating seniors from the Polytech Academy Chattanooga (PAC) and Mechatronics Academy at Volkswagen (MAV) on April 21.
Twenty-three seniors from high schools across Hamilton County earned an average college GPA of 3.6 and up to 40 college credit hours.
Mechatronics Academy student Jackson Cowden and Polytech Academy student Sadie Sheppard addressed the group.
Mr. Cowden shared, “I got to learn welding and coding that I never would have gotten to do anywhere else.”
Ms. Sheppard shared, “I met so many great people here who I will always remember.”
Mechatronics Academy at Volkswagen (MAV) is a multifaceted learning environment located at the Volkswagen plant. Students take a combination of college and high school courses, earn industry certifications and earn approximately 36 credits toward a mechatronics technology degree. Students also have the opportunity to apply for the Volkswagen apprenticeship upon completion of their high school programming. MAV is proud to announce that seven of their students have been accepted into the apprenticeship program and will continue their education and career with Volkswagen.
Polytech Academy at Chattanooga students take a combination of high school and college courses at Chattanooga State during their junior and senior year of high school. Students can choose from three educational pathways: chemical engineering technology, mechatronics technology or computer information technology. Students gain academic success, build lifelong friendships and gain skills to be college and career ready in a learning environment with access to state-of-the-art equipment at Chattanooga State Community College.
