Jay Lawrence Smith
Our family is sad to announce the passing of Jay Lawrence Smith, 83, of Chattanooga on June 20, 2022.
Jay was surrounded by his faithful and loving wife of 58 years, Betty Sallee Smith, his two children and their respective spouses: Mark (Sandra) Smith and Lisa (Mark) Haselwander, and all six of his grandchildren: Jayson and Jarod Smith, Austin (Emily), Carson, Analisa and Madelyn Haselwander, and Katie Boren.
As a private and modest man who loved his family deeply yet hated to be the center of attention, Jay requested his memory to be honored with a graveside service for immediate family members only; this ceremony was held on Saturday, June 25, at 1 p.m..
The family wishes to express gratitude to Carlos Woodruff, Kristina Hopkinson, Madissen King, Charlotte Ball, our wonderful Hearth Hospice nurse Haley Topping, Access Family Pharmacy, our amazing nurses and support staff at the Lantern at Shallowford Road, and all of our friends and family members who helped our family and our beloved father in his final days. You each touched our lives and blessed us in too many ways to count; we feel a deep gratitude for each of you.
