John Leslie “Les” Stitt was born on July 28, 1931, in Flat Rock, Indiana. He left this life on June 27, 2022, at the age of 90.
Les enjoyed a successful career as a project engineer. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and 20 years in the Naval Reserves.
Les enjoyed working on his 1953 Studebaker. He was one of the founding members of the North Hixson Church of Christ. He worked faithfully for the Lord his whole life. Les was always ready to help anyone in need. He looked forward to and enjoyed having big family gatherings. He loved his children and grandchildren!
Les leaves his wife of 69 years, Louise Stitt, of Hixson; three children, Cindy (Dawson) Carver, of Hixson, Mike (LeAnn) Stitt, of Soddy Daisy, and Amy (Marty) Gailey, of Jackson, Tn.; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Les will be conducted from the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30, at 3 p.m. with Minister Byron Nash, and Minister Shane Millard officiating. Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at North Chapel.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice Care of Chattanooga.
