Barbara Jean Newman
Barbara Jean Newman, 89, of Soddy Daisy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Soddy Daisy. Barbara retired from the Hamilton County School System. She loved the University of Tennessee Volunteers and adored spending time with her boys, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Newman; parents, Lawrence and Jane Davis; sisters, Reita Shipley and Mildred May; brother, Pete Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otis and Tory Newman.
Survivors are her sons, Gary Newman and wife, Janice and Jerry Newman and wife, Candy; grandchildren, Lori Cole and husband, Eric, Kari Curtis and husband, Robert, Drew Newman and wife, Ashton, Katie Poe and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Evan Cole and wife, Erin, Emma Cole, Cullen Copeland, Kayleah Copeland, Cannon Curtis, Bauer Curtis, Bailey Grace Curtis, Finn Newman, Otis Newman, Stevie Lynne Poe; brother, Joel Davis and wife, Betty; sister, Wanda Clift; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation is on Thursday, June 30, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services will be on Friday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Peter Choi and Rev. Alan Stewart officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, July 5, at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eric Cole, Robert Curtis, Drew Newman, David Poe, Evan Cole and Cullen Copeland.
