Ellen Jean Strong Stakich Sayers, 87, a resident of Cleveland, Tn. since 1967 and a native of Cleveland, Oh., passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 in her home.
Ellen was a faithful member of Mt Carmel Baptist Church for 55 years; teaching Sunday School for more than 30 years and working during Bible School and Ocoee Outreach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. Strong and Ellen H. Strong; her first husband. Daniel D. Stakich; her second husband, Gordon R. Sayers; son, David Stakich; brothers, Charles Strong, Lawrence Strong and William Strong; and sisters, Donna Sayers and Louise Cammarata.
She leaves behind one daughter, Jean Stakich Deyton (Allen), of Cleveland; one son, Kenneth Stakich (Virginia), of Valdosta, Ga.; one brother, Paul Strong (Kathy), of Neunan, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Cyndi Fields (David), Jeremy Stakich, Lacy Stakich Scoggins (Jason), Aiden Deyton (Caitlin), all of Cleveland, Rebecca Hughson (David), of Morganton, Ga. and Ross Stakich and Jennifer Stakich Walker (Colin), of Valdosta, Ga.; 16 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She leaves a void in our lives.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 3 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel, with Pastor Steve Huff officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
