HHM Certified Public Accountants, a full-service CPA and consulting firm with locations in Chattanooga and Memphis, has hired Sydney Zumbrun as a part-time manager in the Accounting and Assurance department, Japhet Townsend as a senior accountant, staff accountants Emily Brown, Caroline Daniel, Ammiah Grow, and Casey Queen, and administrative assistant Hannah Anderson in the Chattanooga office.
Ms. Zumbrun started her accounting career in 2011 at HHM CPAs in the firm’s audit department and returned in 2022 as a manager in the Accounting and Assurance department. Sydney performs audits in a range of industries including Employee Benefit Plans, Not-For-Profit, and Electric Service Distributors. Her acute attention to detail and ability to connect with each client make her a valuable resource for the firm. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, she obtained an accounting degree and brings extensive auditing experience to her role.
As a senior accountant, Mr. Townsend prepares tax returns for businesses and individuals, specializing in state and local taxes. He brings to the firm six years of experience as a field auditor for the Tennessee Department of Revenue, as well as two years of experience as a tax preparer at a local Chattanooga accounting firm. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Economics from Bryan College and is currently pursuing his CPA license.
Emily Brown, Caroline Daniel, Ammiah Grow, and Casey Queen join as full-time staff accountants after completing internships with the firm.
Ms. Brown prepares tax returns and assists the Accounting and Assurance department with audit work. She graduated from the University of Chattanooga (UTC) with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance in May 2022 and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration. Prior to joining HHM, she held several internships, providing her a foundation of accounting skills to build upon. She handled accounts payable and receivable for a construction company and assisted in preparing cost reports for rural health clinics.
Ms. Daniel prepares individual and business tax returns. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from UTC with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and minor in Criminal Justice. She is working toward her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance at UTC and plans on earning her CPA license and CFE certification. During her time in college, she was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, serving as a secretary her senior year, Phi Eta Sigma, and Alpha Lambda Delta. Prior to HHM, she interned at a Fortune 500 company in the company’s financial reinsurance department.
Ms. Grow focuses on the governmental industry and specializes in Employee Retention Credit. She graduated from Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is working toward obtaining her CPA license. During her time in college, she served on the business leadership team where she contributed to the improvement of the School of Business. Prior to joining HHM, she interned with a Fortune 500 insurance company in the company’s tax department.
Ms. Queen prepares tax returns and assists in audit work. She graduated Cum Laude from UTC with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. During her time in college, she was involved in multiple organizations including Beta Alpha Psi as a member and then chapter tutoring coordinator in 2022. She is currently working on her MBA from UTC and plans to earn her CPA license and CFE certification. Prior to HHM, she interned at a local accounting firm.
Ms. Anderson joins as an administrative assistant. She completes daily, weekly, and monthly time reports, handles daily deposits, and assists the firm’s COO and firm controller. Her experience in administrative and customer service fields coupled with her willingness to help others make her a valuable resource to the firm. Prior to joining HHM, she held positions at a pediatrics office, Unum Group, and Amazon, equipping her with excellence at paying close attention to details. She graduated from Cleveland State Community College with an associate degree in accounting.
