Women’s Oncology Warriors Foundation Hosts Fundraiser Sept. 16 At Miller Park

  • Friday, August 19, 2022

The Women’s Oncology Warriors Foundation of Greater Chattanooga was approved for a temporary beer permit on Thursday. The organization will hold a fundraiser on Sept. 16 at Miller Park. The annual event was cancelled last year because there was a rise in COVID cases at the time.

The last year it was held, an estimated 200 people attended including volunteers and workers. This year the organization, represented by Ben Connor, is trying to attract a bigger crowd by offering general admission tickets and having food trucks with entertainment from a Dave Matthews Tribute band.

Security issues are at the forefront, said Mr.

Conner, and the entire park will be fenced in. A security company has been hired as well as off-duty officers from the Chattanooga Police Department and first responders and volunteers will be monitoring the crowd.

All proceeds from the event will be going to assist local women who are fighting cancer for costs that are outside of treatment. This includes things such as travel expenses and lost pay from having to miss work.
