Johnnie Norman
Johnnie “Johnlee Hooker” Norman, 73, of Chattanooga, Johnnie departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2022, in the Hospice Care Center.
He was born May 17, 1949, in Boligee, Al., to Ella Norman and George Washington. During his life, Johnnie lived in several cities and states before making Chattanooga his home. Johnnie was known for his skills as a painter, a handyman, and Johnnie eventually formed the company, Ella & Lee Construction & Painting. Johnnie was high-spirited, lived and played by his own terms.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Norman and George Washington; a spouse, and brothers, Robert Earl and Theodore Norman.
Johnnie leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Sheron Norman of New York, Jamel Forman of Florida, Sean Phillips of Georgia and Jonathan Phillips (Denise) of New York; daughter, Monique Booker of New York; several grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Margaret) Norman of New York, Samuel (Peggy) Norman of Georgia, Harry Wills of Alabama, and Leroy (Cynthia) Wills of South Carolina, Alonzo (Thresa) Rutland; sisters, Queen McDonald of Texas, Mary (Willie) Simpson of Georgia, Georgia Tobias of New York, Ethel Wills (George) Smith of Alabama, and Gwydline Sterling of New York; sister-in-law, Ann Norman of New Yok; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
Johnnie will lie in state on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Wayne L. Johnson as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
