A collection of sayings of the late humorist, Lewis Grizzard was released in 1995 following his death on March 20, 1994, by his fourth wife of four days, Dedra K. Grizzard.
They were called “Grizzardisms” and cover a variety of short quotes extracted from his published twenty-one books.
Periodically, they will be quoted singularly as well as part of a bigger writing from the wealth of humor from a satirical genius who died too soon at the age of 47.
The following quips on Politics are written, for an earlier time but are still relevant and pertinent to the political circus unfolding in 2022.
No. 1: Politicians are a lot like wild beasts. Drugged, they are a lot less dangerous.
No. 2: You don’t mess with Charles Bronson, Mother Nature, or the Constitution. Sooner or later, they will all get revenge.
No. 3: Watergate: The older I get, the more I think it was much ado about nothing other than a new breed of journalists running amok instead of covering fires.
No. 4: I think Jimmy Carter would have been a lot better off as president if, when he moved to Washington, he had told brother Billy to wait in the truck.
No. 5: Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson is a person of size. I’m not saying he’s fat, or anything like that, but I will say when he steps on a cigarette, that sucker is out.
