Hamilton County has the best recycling drop off center in the region, located on Dayton Boulevard, in front of the Homeland Security/Driver’s License Office. The successful facility is due to the continual hard work of the attendant, Leslie Carter, who has been there for almost eight years.
Thanks to Carter, the facility is immaculate, citizens feel welcome and inspired to recycle right. Under the direction of Hamilton County Recycling Supervisor, Mark Adams, the center collects items in segregated bins, items for which there is actually a market.
I’m not sure who decided they wanted to get in on the act, but they need to get familiar with that particular drop off before making additions. While the art board and the compost drop off are great ideas, the person who choose placement, has obviously spent little or no time at that drop off center.
This wonderful center probably has the worst and most dangerous entrance of any drop off in the region. The road narrows right at the entrance. With added traffic from the new subdivision next door a bad accident is going to happen. I hope the proper authorities fix the road before someone gets killed.
