Johnnie Mary Jones, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, in a local hospital.

She was a 1962 graduate of Howard High School and received her bachelor’s degree from UTC. Johnnie was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Widow’s Harvest Ministry. She was formerly employed by the Chattanooga Housing Authority as a property manager.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Elder, Sr.; husband, Paul Jones, Sr.; brothers, Allie C. Elder and John Elder, Jr.; sister, Lavada J. Elder.

Survivors include her son, Michael McReynolds; three grandchildren; brother, William Lee (Villanueva) Elder; sister, Alice Ann McGowan, all of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Johnnie will lie in state on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9-10:15 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. She will also lie in state at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m.

Funeral services will follow at noon at the church.

Burial will be on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
