Stevens, Edna Jean (Trenton)

  • Tuesday, September 27, 2022
Edna Jean Stevens, 91, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022. She gained her glorified mind and left behind the carnal mind that stole her memories for almost 12 years. She entered into the arms of Jesus as she left her earthly body. Alzheimer’s did not have the ability to steal her faith, she praised her God during all of life’s challenges and she received a Crown of Glory as she entered the gates of heaven.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Bishop Michael Kilgore, Bishop Randy Tinker and Reverend Ed Shook officiating. Graveside service will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 3 from 4-8 p.m. and on from Tuesday 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Edna was born on Oct. 21, 1930 to the late Oliver and Armanda Waller. She has been a resident of the Dade Health and Rehab Nursing Home since 2013. While her stay at the Nursing Home, she enjoyed walking the halls and visiting other residents at the facility. She brought much joy to the staff there, and took great pleasure in the weekly church services held there over the past nine plus years. She was an avid singer of gospel hymns and her legacy will be memories of her singing songs to praise her Savior. Edna was a loving wife for many years and an exceptional mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Stevens; two brothers, Elmer Waller and Johnny Waller; six sisters, Mary Jo Whisenant, Anna Dell Tinker, Leona O’Dell, Nettie Reed, Nola Hammond and Eva Avery.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, two daughters, Glenda (Rayburn) Massengale, of Trenton, Carolyn (Farrell) Ray, of Cartersville, Ga., and son, Gary (Diane) Stevens, of Punta Gorda, Fl. She left behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who cherished her passionately, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the Dade Health and Rehab staff for all they did to care for our mom. She thought of the Facility as “her home,” and couldn’t wait to get back when we took her to our homes for a visit.

The service will be livestreamed at www.discoverdade.com/moorestream.
