Due to the threat of Hurricane Ian, the Invite at Innisbrook had to be shortened to one 36-hole day that saw the #2 Roadrunners post team scores of 298-306 to finish in 9th on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla. on Monday.
#1 Keiser (Fla.), the defending national champion, at 576 (+8) won the single-day event with #12 Southeastern (Fla.) taking 2nd at 583 (+15). Top-5 Juco Eastern Florida State was 3rd at 585 (+17), while #13 Wayland Baptist (Texas) and #5 South Carolina-Beaufort (592, +24) tied for 4th and rounded out the top-5.
Team scoring was led by Steve Kibare with a 7th place finish after rounds of 72-73 (+3).
Jarod Edwards posted rounds of 75-74 (+7) to finish tied for 22nd overall.
Cole Wentworth carded rounds of 75-78 (+11) to come home tied for 52nd with Davison Reynolds shooting 76-82 (+15) to tie for 75th. Trevor Bassett tied for 83rd overall with rounds of 79-81 (+18).
Gavin Noble continued his strong surge working back into team competition taking a top-5 spot overall in a tie for 3rd as an individual firing two even-par rounds of 71. Tucker Windham also played as an individual and shot rounds of 74-76 to tie for 28th at 8-over.
It will be a short week for the #2 Roadrunners who will be back on the course on October 8-9 when they play in the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Links at Kahite in Vonore, Tenn.
