The #4 Lady Roadrunners posted the best second round but fell three strokes short of victory in the weather shortened Invite at Innisbrook on the South Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla. on Monday.
With the threat of Hurricane Ian, the event was shortened to a one-day 36-hole event and saw the Lady Birds post team scores of 302-293 with the second round score being the tournaments best overall.
NCAA Division II Eckerd (Fla.) (592, +24) narrowly edged #2 Dalton State (Ga.) (595, +27) with #11 Southeastern (Fla.) finishing 3rd at 601 (+33).
Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and (RV) St. Thomas (Fla.) finished tied for 4th at 603 (+35) to round out the top-5.
Cameron Daniel led the charge for the Lady Roadrunners with a 4th place finish overall with rounds of 72-74 (+4). Joining her in the top-10 were Megan Donahue (77-71, +6) (+6) and Rylie Kosney (74-74, +6) in a tie for 8th.
Mailey Buzzell and Sydney Hermann tied for 28th overall as the last two Lady Birds in the lineup. Buzzell posted rounds of 80-74 (+12) with Hermann carding 79-75 (+12).
Three individuals hit the course for Dalton State with Ella Cress finishing highest in a tie for 16th at 9-over with rounds of 79-72 (+9). Sara Burger (80-75, +13) finished tied for 32nd, while Hanna Bullard (82-83, +23) ended the tournament 56th.
An interesting new event is next on the calendar for the #4 Lady Roadrunners when they compete in the Faulkner Match Play on October 10-11 at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn.
