Thomas Willard "Sonny" Orton
Thomas Willard "Sonny" Orton, 86, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Wednesday September 14, 2022.
He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a member of the Alhambra Shine and a member of the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. Tom was a member of the First Centenary United Methodist Church and the Morgan Sunday School Class. Tom was in the graduating class of 1953 from Central High School and the class of 1957 from Tennessee Tech University. Thomas had a very successful career over the years with Orton Utility Supply (Now WESCO), and Orton Self Storage Facility of North Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr & Mrs. Willard Orton.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (Pegge) Moore Orton, son, Chris Orton of Atlanta; daughter Pamela and Keith Bonnell of Ringgold; grandchildren Meghan Heatherly of Ringgold; Reed (Morgan) Bonnell of Rock Spring; Irina (Ira) Bonnell of Ringgold; great-granddaughters, Brancyn Sorrells and Blakleigh Eaton of Ringgold.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
