Middle School cross-country runners from across Hamilton County met at Chickamauga Dam on Tuesday evening for their end of the season tournament. Under bright blue skies, over 200 athletes raced on the 1.5 mile course.
In the girls’ race, Signal Mountain capped off their undefeated season by taking first with a score of 49. They were followed by East Hamilton in second place, and Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts in third. On the boys side, undefeated East Hamilton took top honors with a score of 52, followed by Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts in second, and Signal Mountain in third.
In individual results, Ava Akers of East Hamilton remained undefeated at Chickamauga Dam by finishing first. She was followed by Tatum Croft from Soddy-Daisy in second, and Lilly Paxson from Signal Mountain in third. Rounding out the top 10 girls were Naomi Malone from Signal Mountain (4th), Eliza Albrechtsen from Signal Mountain (5th), McKayla McInnis from CSLA (6th), Mallory Commander from CSLA (7th), Lauren Commander from CSLA (8th), Ansley Hirschel from Hunter (9th) and Payton White from Hixson (10th).
In the boys’ race, Luke Martinez from Ooltewah Middle led from the start to come in first. He was followed by Caleb Merrill from East Hamilton, finishing second and Sam Laramore from Signal Mountain, finishing third in a close race. The remaining top ten boys were Harper Borski from East Hamilton (4th), Michael Coltrin from CSLA (5th), Ben Thomson from CSLA (6th), Josue Xiloj-Gomez from East Ridge (7th), Jason Wooldridge from Soddy-Daisy (8th), Jack Crane from East Hamilton (9th), and Gavin McKenzie from Signal Mountain (10th).
