Lawrence Howard Brown passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, September 24, 2022. He was born December 17, 1935 to John Reaver and Rosie Brown in Humphrey’s County, Yazoo City, Ms.
Lawrence attended Tennessee State University and was a veteran of U.S. Army. After leaving the military, he moved to Chattanooga, becoming a teacher at Alton Park Junior High School. Lawrence was employed by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home, which later was sold to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Franklin-Strickland Chapel, for 38 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church on East Eighth Street in Chattanooga, where he served on the Usher Board.
Lawrence has joined his parents, John Reaver and Rosie Brown. He has joined in heaven with his siblings, Millard Brown, Johnny Brown, Pricilla Brown-Taylor, Alexander Brown, Sophia Brown-Taylor, Raymond Brown, Reaver Brown, Leon Brown, Christine Brown-Bingham, Hazel Brown-Chowtaw, Robert Brown, Donald Brown and Willie Brown.
He leaves to cherish precious memories from his loving and devoted wife, Angela Brown; brother, James ( Doris) Brown; sister-in-law, Marha A. Brown; brothers-in-law, Orlando and Albert Pendergrass; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many close friends, including Wilbert McClure and Reginald Mosley.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Franklin Strickland Chapel.
Graveside service will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, with military honors.
