Rock Steady Boxing Chattanooga will host the first Par 4 PD golf tournament at Wind Stone Golf Club on Nov. 1.
With currently over 50 active participants, completing bi-annual assessments, RSBC continues to prove a delayed disease progression, increased strength, and balance skills, let alone improved social interactions, confidence, and quality of life, said officials.
It costs $820 for the first year to participate in Rock Steady Boxing Chattanooga, each year thereafter costing $720 which is minus the initial assessment and equipment cost.
The fighters may attend three RSB classes a week, with the option to attend Pedaling for Parkinson’s two times a week for free. That’s five days of intense exercise or six days if they opt to attend the free class offered on Sundays to the general public with the head coach. Not to mention Tango with Parkinson’s offered once a week as well.
This year Rock Steady Boxing Chattanooga has set a goal to raise $10,000 for Parkinson’s research to support the Michael J Fox Foundation. It is seeking to raise an additional $4,000 to develop a RSB scholarship program for local people with Parkinson's Disease. This could best allow people on a fixed income no excuse not to fight back.
Officials said, "At Rock Steady Boxing Chattanooga, we are driven to create the best environment and community for people with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. I hope you take a moment to review our programs and our mission. For nearly seven years, we have done our best, serving Chattanooga and North Georgia, proving much success and slowing the progression of PD for our members. “In this corner, hope” is our motto, and we live by those words. Join us in this fight."
