Katherine Hickman Mansfield
Katherine/Kathy Mansfield passed away peacefully at home with family, under the care of Hospice on September 2, 2022.
She was 82 years old, born on Dec. 7, 1939, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Frank R. Hickman,Sr. and Mary Sue Price Hickman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank R. Hickman, Jr.
Kathy married Richard (Monk) M. Mansfield, Jr. They spent their lives in and around the Chattanooga area. They celebrated 61 years of marriage, putting God and his will before all others.
She graduated from Chattanooga Central High School, Class of 1957. During her time there she was an active member of The Nite Owls. Later she joined a non-academic sorority Beta Sigma Phi, a social, cultural and civic enrichment group. She graduated from Erlanger Radiology Technician program, which she practiced for over 30 years. She did work several years PRN and also served as a librarian for Birchwood, Meadowview, and Snow Hill Schools.
Everything she did was out of love. She didn't meet a stranger. Her gift was being a servant for God. Cooking, entertaining, sewing, decorating and making floral arrangements were just a few of her passions.
Survived by Richard (Rick) M. Mansfield, lll (son) and wife Karen Henry Mansfield, Donna M. Million (daughter), Susan M. Magnuson (daughter) and husband Kevin C. Magnuson, five grandchildren, Heather Mansfield, Brandon Million and Zak Porter-Million, Tyler Magnuson (fiancé, Landon Simpson) and Hunter Magnuson, and one great-granddaughter, named after her; Katherine Collins Bynum.
She will be greatly missed. Since her beloved husband passed away, she longed to be reunited with him in Heaven. She was a member at Silverdale Baptist Church.
The family will be accepting visitors at 1 p.m. with the Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m. on Sept. 18, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 6314 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421, 423 892-6446.
For those who wish to remember her in a special way, the church will be receiving flowers and indoor/outdoor plants the day of the service between 9-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
