U.S. Air Force Veteran Worked For Shaw Industries

Mr. Henry “Jack” Stanley, 87, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at his residence.

Jack was born April 8, 1935 in Resaca, Georgia, a son of the late Henry and Pauline Barnes Stanley.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Strope, sister, Martha Whitmire and brothers and sister-in-law, Boyd Stanley, Lester and Edna Sue Stanley and Kendall Stanley, and a brother-in-law, Reverend Donald Young.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judy Stanley; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sue Stanley; daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Robert Stannard; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Cathy Stanley; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Grace Stanley; sister, Eva Mae Young; sister-in-law, Teresa Stanley; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from August 1955-August 1959.
Jack worked for 25 years at Certified Grocers in California and retired at the age of 58. Jack and his wife moved back to his home state of Georgia, in 1994. He discovered the retirement life was not for him and went back to work for Shaw Industries driving a truck with his brother, Lester.

Jack had a love for mechanics and worked on everyone’s car as well as at Johnny’s Garage. Jack and his wife, Judy had a love for bingo and they would play at the local American Legion weekly.
Jack was loved by all and will be missed by all who knew him.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Henry “Jack” Stanley will be held Monday, Jan. 30, at 4 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Denny Smith officiating.

He will be laid to rest with his daughter at United Memorial Gardens with Bruce Stanley, Perry Stanley, Dwayne Young, Lamont Young, Keith Stanley, Gary Stanley, Gary Whitmire, Bruce Stanley and Rodney Stanley honored to serve as pallbearers. The Dalton American Legion Post #112 will provide military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 2 p.m. on Monday until the service hour.
