Marvin Douglas “Doug” Flury
Marvin Douglas “Doug” Flury, 77, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Doug was born in 1945 to the late Mr. Joe Flury and Mrs. Asyion Foster Flury in Chattanooga.
Doug graduated from Rossville High School where he played football and won the 1962 State Championship. He worked for a short while as a police officer in Chattanooga, before working for Sherriff J.D. Stewart of Catoosa County. He worked for many years for the State of Georgia Department of Transportation before his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish in his younger years. He was also an Alabama fan. Doug will surely be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Becky Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ada Steele Flury and his son, Doug Flury II. His sister, Jackie Farrar also survives to cherish Doug’s memory. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A private graveside service for Doug will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Jasper, with the Rev. Roger Hobbs officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 5-7 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel, Rossville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson.org to help those living with Parkinson’s disease.
