Chattanooga State’s Center for Engineering, Technology, Arts & Sciences is being named in honor of Gerald McCormick, a former Tennessee House of Representatives member from 2004–2018, for his long-standing leadership impacting higher education across the state and the historical significance of his championing state funds for Chattanooga State.
CETAS houses programs in general engineering, mechatronics, nuclear power, cyber security, chemical operator, robotics, welding, non-destructive testing, and many more. It is also the home of the Wacker Institute, two high schools—STEM and Polytech, and most recently, the Global Center for Digital Innovation, a partnership with Hamilton County Schools.
Program speakers will include: Chancellor Flora Tydings, TBR College System of Tennessee; Senator Bo Watson; Bob Corker, member of the US Senate from 2007–2019; Zach Wamp, member of the US House of Representatives from 1995–2011; Tom Griscom, regent of TBR College System of Tennessee from 2010-2020; and Dr. Rebecca Ashford, college president.
There ceremony will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at CETAS, Chattanooga State Community College, 4501 Amnicola Hwy (enter via West entrance).
