Sharon C. Connally III
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Sharon C. Connally, III, U.S. Army, 82, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his home.
He was an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga. Lt. Col. Connally retired from the U.S. Army after 28 years of service and had been president of MOAA (Military Officers Association of America.) He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, two in Germany and one in Desert Storm. Lt. Col. Connally was awarded two Bronze Star Medals, five Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, Southeast Asia Service Medals w/3 SB, six Vietnam Service Medals, the Army Service Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, First Class and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation Palm.
He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Connally, parents, Sharon Connally, II and Joyce Owens Connally; two sisters, Lynn Connally and Amy Connally Deegan.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Durham Connally; two daughters, Julie Connally Pratt (Allen) and Susanne Connally Honeycutt (Jeff); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Dr. Courtney Krueger will officiate the graveside service.
