Local softball legend Ron “Pat” Patterson passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at his home.

He was a member of the Chattanooga Softball Hall of Fame and ASA Hall of Fame.

A 1960 graduate of Kirkman High School, Ron had also played minor league baseball for the Kansas City A’s. Ron was a member of Crosspath at East Ridge and had worked for James Glass and Ross Glass companies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Allen Patterson, sister, Dean Beavers and brother, Wayne Patterson.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Patterson; son Doug Patterson (Amy); daughters, Kelli Patterson (Robin) and Michelle Patterson Lowe; sisters, Lela Aylor and Nancy Howell; brother, James “Cotton” Patterson. The light of his life were his grandchildren, Kirsten Kinsman (Aaron), Ryan Patterson (Abbie), Mandy Stanfield (Levi) and Gabriel Summers; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Peyton Kinsman, Willow Carr and Hank Patterson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 3, at Crosspath at East Ridge Church with the Rev. William Jacques officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hearth Hospice 513 Georgia Avenue Chattanooga, Tn. 37403. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff and employees of Hearth Hospice, especially his nurse, Emily.
