Larry Eugene Russell, 83, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Russell retired from WTS Media after 35 years of service and was honored as salesman of the year many times.

Prior to his service there, he worked for Capitol Toyota where he won salesman of the year several times.

In his early career he was a partner with Alder-Finkle-Russell & Swingle Insurance Agency.

Mr. Russell was an accomplished bowler, an avid golfer, Tennessee Vols and Atlanta Braves fan.

He was also a gifted singer and songwriter and most recently produced his own CD to benefit the SOS Ministry which he founded.

He was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church for 49 years.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Doris Russell; children, Stan (Melinda) Russell, Cindy (Ken) Wittler, all of Chattanooga; Stephanie (Collin) Wood, Nashville, TN; and Andy (Arianna Jimenez) Russell, Marietta, GA; sister, Holly (Nolan) Henrich, Ooltewah; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Independent Baptist Church with Dr. Jamie Colbert and Rev. Clif Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Collin Wood, Rick Wood, Ken Wittler, Daniel Lee, Justin Denton, and Nolan Henrich serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday school class.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 4601 North Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37411.

In honor of Larry, he would like for everyone attending the service to wear bright colors.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 2nd from 4-8 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road and Saturday, August 3rd from 10 am until 11 am at the church.
