Legal Aid of East Tennessee will hold its annual Pro Bono Night in conjunction with presenting sponsor Chambliss Bahner & Stophel P.C. at the Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall on Oct. 3. This annual event brings together attorneys, law firms, bar associations and partner agencies to celebrate excellence in volunteerism with the region-wide Pro Bono Project.
The 2024 Pro Bono Night will honor the following individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions:
• Chief Justice William M.
Barker Equal Access to Justice Award: Michael N. St. Charles;
• Bruce C. Bailey Volunteer Attorney Award: Timothy B. Ballard;
• Bruce C. Bailey Volunteer Attorney Award: Randall D. Larramore;
• Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year Award: Husch Blackwell; and
• The Alexander Hamilton Award: The Enterprise Center - The Edney Innovation Center.
Officials said, "Unique to 2024, this year’s Pro Bono Night will also recognize awardees of 'Attorneys for Justice,' a special honor bestowed by the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Tennessee Office of the Courts.
"The Pro Bono Project is a program of LAET and is a collaborative effort to provide essential civil legal assistance to individuals in need of support to secure family stability, financial stability, safety and overall well-being."
“Since 2010, dedicated pro bono attorneys have donated time on well over 10,000 cases. The impact on our neighbors and our community is life changing. It’s transformative. There is a lasting change for the better, and what helps some of us helps all of us,” said LAET Pro Bono Director Caitlin Torney.
