After a dominating seven game sweep of the Rocket City Trash Pandas last week which solidified a first place finish for the league's first half, the Chattanooga Lookouts have dropped three straight at home to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The Lookouts fell 10-6 in front of the home crowd on Thursday. Run prevention proved to be the issue for the third day in a row as the Lookouts gave up 10 runs after allowing 9 on both Tuesday and Wednesday night. They fall to 0-3 in the second half standings.
Chattanooga took an early lead in the second inning on an Edwin Arroyo single but the Blue Wahoos responded with a three spot in the third courtesy of a bases clearing double by Nathan Martorella. Sal Stewart blasted his eighth homerun of the season in the bottom of the fifth, a three run shot as a part of a five run inning. However, the Lookouts bullpen couldn't stop the Blue Wahoos thereafter. They tacked on two in the sixth and four more in the seventh for the 10-6 final.
Relief pitcher Brandon Komar took the loss on a forgettable night. In just two innings of work he was charged with six runs on seven hits. Out of the Lookouts eight hits, Stewart's homerun was the lone extra base hit. Alex Williams picked up the victory for the Blue Wahoos striking out seven in four and two thirds innings. He moves to 3-0 on the year.
The two teams are back at it at AT&T Field on Friday and Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. with the finale on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.
