Forever in our hearts, Marian R. Schalk passed away on July 11, 2025, at the age of 72.

She was born in Nashville, and spent her formative years up to junior high in Chattanooga, her family moved to Connecticut for two years, and then moved back to Spring City where she finished high school at Spring City High School in 1971.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Robinson; mother, Barbara Gill; stepfather, William Gill; and younger sister, Barbara Robinson.

She is survived by her son, Christopher (wife Megan) Schalk of Dayton; daughter, Allison (husband Mike Johnston) Schalk of Soddy Daisy; brother, Paul (wife Susan) Robinson of Tallahassee, Fl.; stepbrother, Jeff Gill of Portales, NM; five grandchildren: Jacob, Kavan, Kayley, Connie, and Merrilee Schalk; and stepmother, Diana Robinson. She was married previously to Conrad Schalk with surviving stepdaughter, Laura Schalk and stepson, David (Doug) Schalk. She also had several nieces, nephews, and close friends that she loved dearly.

She graduated from Southwest College in 1972 where she started her career as executive secretary but then spent most of her career as a certified medical transcriptionist.

She joined the Army Reserves and specialized as an intelligence analyst and administrative assistant and actively served in Desert Storm August 1990 through July 1991. She was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant and retired in April 2013.

She was a gifted pianist who could really captivate her audience.

She was a faithful member of the Episcopal church and a devoted Children's Christian Lead Educator at the Church of Nativity for many years.

Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, and sewing. She loved to cook and was always known for her famous Cabbage and Apple dishes at the Schalk family gatherings.

Anyone who knew her knew how much she loved her animals. Currently living with her was Mr. Pumpkin, who will miss her dearly. She also loved her pets waiting on her at the rainbow bridge - Miss Priss, Bunny, and Loki.

Visitation is from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment is private.
