Baylor School Board Chair Alexis Guerry Bogo '89 will add six new board members at the September board meeting.
Pam McKenney served on the Baylor Board of Trustees from 2018 - 2024, chairing the Science Committee and contributing to the Advancement, Development, Building and Grounds, and Summer Programs committees. A longtime supporter of Chattanooga-area nonprofits, she has over 20 years of financial expertise and currently serves on the boards of CHI Memorial Foundation, Siskin Hospital and The Community Foundation.
She has also held leadership roles with The Children’s Advocacy Center, the Hunter Museum and Bridge Scholars. Ms. McKenney is a Loyola Marymount University graduate with a degree in international business and has worked in audit, financial reporting and strategic planning at Deloitte and GE Capital. She and her husband, Rick, CEO of Unum, are parents to Matt ’16, Grace ’18, and Nick ’22.
Sarah Colmore McKenzie ’88 is a fourth-generation Baylor graduate and member of the school’s first coed class, where she helped launch the inaugural girls’ track team. She earned a B.A. in French from UTC and taught at Scenic Land School. Her family’s Baylor legacy includes her great-grandfather, Jo Conn Guild (1905), who served on the board for 39 years and established the Jo Conn Guild Medal for academic excellence. Her family also supports the Jo Conn Guild Scholarship for new ninth-grade day students. Her father, Jo Colmore ’61, played football and later taught English at Baylor. Ms. McKenzie has two sons who attended Baylor, serves on the board of The McKenzie Foundation, and enjoys tennis, Pilates and saltwater fly fishing.
Lucy Sawrie is a dentist with a part-time practice on Signal Mountain. She is married to Daniel Sawrie ’91, an orthodontist, and they have three children at Baylor: Chloe ’27, Luke '28, and Max '29. In her free time, she enjoys tennis, running, walking and working in the yard. Her Baylor ties extend through her husband’s family, that include his father, Steve ’59, and brothers, David ’88, and the late Steve II ’85. Her sister, Emma Williams, also taught English at Baylor from 2001-2005. Ms. Sawrie has selected to chair the Parent Alliance and will serve on the board for the next two years.
Skip Schwartz ’91 is deputy chief investment officer for Grubb Properties, a Charlotte-based real estate company focused on essential housing across the U.S. Previously, he spent 28 years at Heitman, a global real estate firm, where he was managing director of Private Real Estate Equity and an equity owner. Mr. Schwartz lived and worked internationally in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Hong Kong before returning to Chattanooga in 2021. A third-generation Baylor graduate, he holds a B.A. and M.A. from Stanford and an MBA from Duke. He lives in Chattanooga with his wife Holly, son Blayden ’27, daughter Skylar ’24, (a sophomore at Stanford) and their rescue dog Lucky. Mr. Schwartz serves on the board of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, the executive committee of the Humane Educational Society board and chairs Invest Chattanooga’s board. He enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking and soccer, and has completed the Chicago Marathon and climbed Mt. Fuji.
Hugh Sharber is a business lawyer at Miller & Martin, focusing on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and securities transactions. He earned a J.D. with honors from The University of Tennessee College of Law and a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Sewanee. Mr.Sharber has served on the boards of Chattem, The Krystal Company and currently MetalTek International, Inc. He is a member of the Chattanooga Rotary Club and has volunteered with several local organizations, including the Chattanooga Community Development Financial Institution, Chattanooga Opportunity Fund, Sewanee and the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. A native of Murfreesboro, Mr. Sharber is married to Virginia Anne, executive director of The Hunter Museum and former Baylor trustee. They have three children, Evan ’07, Kate ’09, and Meg ’11. They attend St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where Mr. Sharber has held multiple leadership roles.
Missy Talley has served Baylor in numerous roles, including two years on the Parent Alliance and its nominating committee. She was chair of the Baylor Backers for four years and served on the Art Uncorked committee and as chair over a four-year span. Ms. Talley also chaired the 2023 Biennial Celebrations auction, after serving for many years as a committee member. She has volunteered at Baylor extensively, assisting with admissions, faculty appreciation events, community service holiday parties, boarding move-in days, concessions, raffle sales and cheer philanthropy projects. For her dedication, she received the John T. “Buddy” Fisher ’46 Distinguished Service Award. Ms. Talley lives in Chattanooga with her husband, Roger, and daughter Reese ’24, who is a nursing student at The University of Tennessee.
