Clyresa Davis
Clyresa Davis, 71, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in a local medical facility. Her departure leaves a gentle quiet where her laughter once spread, and a legacy of kindness and selflessness cherished by all who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing her.
Resa was born to the late Clyde Hayes and Irene Davis on Nov. 9, 1953, in Chattanooga. She was the youngest of five siblings and preceded in death by her two eldest brothers: Edward Sanders and Robert Lee Sanders. To cherish her memories, “Resa” leaves behind her two loving siblings, Glenn (Norka) Davis in Yakima, Wa., and Luegenia Moore in Jonesboro, Ga., along with cousins locally here in Chattanooga. Though she had no children of her own, she nurtured those around her, notably her numerous nieces and nephews, with deep affection, wisdom, and generosity, always willing to help any way she could.
Well known by her high school classmates, she was a proud graduate of the Howard High School, class of 1971, and attended several reunion events over the years. Guided by a deep faith, she was a dedicated and active member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, as once was her mother and aunts, and she served in the Women’s Ministry and Singles Ministry. Whether volunteering her time to serve in the community, participating in charity events or offering comforting prayers, she touched the hearts of her congregation with joy and compassion.
Her legacy is one of kindness, humility and the enduring power of gentle acts. Those who knew her will remember her silliness, her love for movies, her thoughtful gifts, her love for plants and the way her full smile made you feel!
We will honor her memory and the indelible mark she leaves on our hearts with a celebration of life. She will lie in state on Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
