Rachel M. Pruett, 92, of Hixson, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on August 5, 2025.

Rachel was born in Daisy on Nov 21, 1932 and lived in Hixson all her life. She and her husband, A.C., owned and operated Pruett’s Food Town for over 43 years. She was a member of the International Ninety-Nines, The Organization of Women Pilots, and the Sweet Adelines Singing Club as well as a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church.

Rachel was a world traveler, visiting all continents during her lifetime. She was a dedicated grandmother and expert gardener. She loved her yard and her flower garden and mowed her yard up to the age of 85! Rachel loved singing and had an appreciation for music and piano.

Mrs. Pruett was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose C. “A.C.” Pruett; parents, Clyde Rawlston Miller and Elberta Horne Miller; and sisters, Eunice M. McGee and Lorenia M. Holland.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Paul Pruett (Katrena) of Hixson; sister, Mona Sue Taylor of Ringgold; grandchildren, Will Pruett of White Salmon, Wa., Thompsie Huffaker(Hugh) of Chattanooga, Andrew Pruett (Clara) of Chattanooga, Grace Pruett, Carter Pruett, and Kiefer Pruett all of Ponte Vedra Bch, Fl., Kayline Pruett and Isaac Pruett both of Hixson; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews,

Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring her memory and sharing stories of her incredible life on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 1-3 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Cesar Arocha officiating. Entombment will follow alongside her beloved husband, A.C., at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse in lieu of flowers.
